
Melt: Suggested Motion in Static Design
The first project in VART 2600, Type in Motion, was to pick a word and successfully use static design effects to imply movement in type. I developed two different pieces, as shown below, but decided to submit “Melt” for final review.
But HOW did you make that?!
“Melt” is entirely digital. It isn’t an edited photograph of those alphabetical ice cubes thawing. I chose a chunky sans type and got to work.
Partly within Photoshop and then transferred to Illustrator, I layered and then kept layering, edited and then kept editing, until I got to the beautiful metallic, melting word you see before you.
I can’t reveal all of my secrets, can I?
